Backstory

Early Life (1987 – 2005)

Mads Cook is born February 7, 1987 in a small town in Norway. He was the middle of three siblings. As a child, he loves playing cops and robbers. One of his most cherished gifts is a pair of toy handcuffs, but his parents take them away when they notice his fascination with them. Mads as teenager becomes increasingly interested in online interactions where he can arrest girls and enjoys playing football. He is a loner with a few close friends. Later he buys real handcuffs and meet girls often to restrains them, nearly getting reported several times but always managing to escape trouble.

Education and Career (2005 – 2021)

After high school, Mads pursues a craftsman education, learning to build both houses and roads. Mads enrolls in police training and later starts working as a police officer in Bergen. While working as a police officer, Mads’ obsession with incarceration leads him to build a prison in his basement, where he holds up to eight women captive at one point. He works in Bergen for several years.

The town of Second Lake hires Mads to build a new prison. His work impresses the town so much that he is appointed Chief of Police and Prison Chief. Mads is approached by the state of Sea Land to build a town near Sea Land Prison Island. The project is a major success, and as the prison expands, Mads takes on greater responsibility.

Relationship and injury (2021-2023)

Mads begins dating Natalie Olsen, but their relationship ends after five months when she is arrested for abuse of power. A bomb explosion destroys Sea Land Prison and large parts of the city. Mads is severely injured, spending three months in the hospital and nearly six months in rehabilitation before fully recovering.

Angerpool (2023 – )

After his recovery, Mads learns that his ex-girlfriend Natalie Olsen has become the dictator of Angerpool. She hires him to rebuild the city after her family violently seizes control. Mads also works at a local bar while overseeing the reconstruction. Mads is promoted to Deputy Chief of Police and Deputy Warden of Angerpool Prison. Mads continues to expand and upgrade the city, manage prisoners, and arrest criminals in Angerpool. He is known for being calm and professional, though he has a clear fascination with women in handcuffs.

Mads dislikes leadership roles, preferring to contribute to the community rather than carry the burden of command. However, when forced into leadership, he does his best despite the stress it causes him

Personality

Mads Cook is a complex and contradictory individual. On the surface, he appears calm and professional, excelling in his work, whether as a police officer, prison administrator, or builder. He is hardworking, loyal, and adaptable, with a strong ability to survive and find new roles in society. However, beneath this exterior lies a darker side that has shaped the course of his life.

From an early age, Mads developed a fascination with law enforcement and imprisonment, which escalated into boundary-crossing behavior in adulthood. His interest in handcuffs evolved from childhood play into an obsession, leading him to abuse his power as a police officer by kidnapping women and imprisoning them in a secret basement prison of his own making. Despite his actions, he managed to escape consequences, and his technical skills eventually made him a key figure in the construction of prisons and cities.

Despite his past, he was appointed as both Chief of Police and Prison Warden, playing a crucial role in Second Lake and Sea Land. His relationship with Natalie Olsen, later the dictator of Angerpool, led him into new power structures, and after suffering a severe injury, he returned to rebuild her city. Over time, he took on an official position in Angerpool as Deputy Chief of Police and Deputy Warden, while continuing his work on city development.

Mads avoids leadership roles whenever possible, as he quickly becomes stressed by responsibility. He follows the system when it benefits him, but his moral flexibility makes it unclear whether he truly distinguishes right from wrong—or simply what is possible. While he does not torture prisoners, he also shows no empathy for them, and his obsession with women in handcuffs remains evident.

Overall, Mads is a skilled but morally ambiguous individual. He is pragmatic, dutiful, and a survivor, yet his fascination with control and captivity raises the question of whether he is truly a man of the law—or simply a man who knows how to use it to his advantage.
